Alternative remedies from your cupboard for common illness

This post is taken from FOOD magazine, September 1999 issue.

Entitled, Cures from the cupboard by Elsie Kalaw Santos
Here are some excerpts from it:
●Apply the juice of malunggay leaves on infected wounds. (the leaves are squeezed hard over the wound).
●Rub fresh oregano leaves on insect bites.
●Rub Aloe vera leaves on burns.
●Drink a plenty of water with sugar and salt during bouts of diarrhea.
●Drink a strong brew of ginger tea to sooth sore throat or cough.
●Take a spoonful of oregano juice three times a day. It is very effective for cough.
●Take chicken broth to relieve cold.
●Replace commercial cough syrups with sampalok-luya-kalamansi.

Since a lot of us are now very conscious about what we eat and what are alternative remedies to relieve pain and discomfort, I posted this to share with you.
